On Purpose Oregon is the leading community for purpose-driven businesses in our region. We unite third party-certified or mission-aligned companies and values-led professionals in one place. Because when business leads with intention, everyone benefits.
Where We
Come From
We started with a few dozen B Corps, a shared belief, and a city ready to prove something. A decade later, we're the most active B Local chapter in the country. And we're just getting started.
2015
B Lab hosted its Champions Retreat in Portland. Our local B Corps showed up, along with hundreds from across the US and Canada. Something clicked.
2016
B Local PDX became a 501(c)(3).
2017
We launched BLD PNW, our annual B Corp Leadership Development conference.
2021
With the most B Corps per capita in the US, we hired our first employee and launched the first B Local membership program in the nation.
2023
Oregon and SW Washington surpassed 150 B Corps. We began exploring ways to grow and measure our community's collective impact.
2025
We developed our Impact Framework and became a 1% for the Planet Environmental Partner.
2026
We rebranded and changed our name to On Purpose Oregon to expand our offering beyond the B Corp movement.

Current Position: Co-Founder @ Impact Collective
About: Sarah thinks about “growth” in everything she does, including how to grow mission-driven organizations’ impact. She believes that any business focused solely on the monetary bottom line is doomed to fail. After years in tech startups where profit and financial gain were put above all else, with impact and purpose as a nice afterthought, Sarah knew there was a better way. As the Board Chair of the On Purpose Oregon board, she uses these skills to help grow and solidify the purpose-driven movement in the Pacific Northwest. Her experiences in industries ranging from food and beverage to technology startups allow her to bring a well rounded, innovative approach to projects in service of helping organizations reach their impact goals.
My nominee for most (peaceful/beautiful/stunning/etc) place in Oregon is... Books With Pictures - this comic book shop on SE Division is the most lovely, warm, welcoming, and interesting place in town! I love browsing, and chatting with the staff about all their favorite comics (graphic novels if you want to be a grown up about it). It is the best!
Outside of work, you're likely to find me... Playing video games with my husband, playing board games with my friends, or exploring the incredible cuisine that Portland has to offer!
I am a massive fan/kind of obsessed with the B Corp... Dr Bronners! I recently dug more into their history, their philosophy, and specifically their commitment (made in 1995!) to a max 5 to 1 salary ratio, capping their top execs at making no more than 5x their lowest paid employees. Overall fascinating brand, amazing B Corp, and....incredible products!

About : As Executive Director at On Purpose Oregon, Wes leads and supports board members, volunteers and community stakeholders to create boundless opportunities for Certified B Corps and to grow the movement to use business as a force for good. His career has centered on the intersection of purpose-driven business, entrepreneurship and nonprofits, and he moved to Portland in 2021 after a decade operating and scaling Habitat for Humanity ReStores along the Gulf Coast of Louisiana and Mississippi. He's keeping that secondhand + salvaged flame alive by serving on the board at The Rebuilding Center, a nonprofit that works toward economic justice and climate resilience.
My nominee for most (peaceful/beautiful/stunning/etc) place in Oregon is... Aim in any direction, and you'll find somewhere beautiful, but find myself returning again and again to the Trail of Ten Falls.
Outside of work, you're likely to find me... On a wandering Sandy River Delta walk with my dog, Bear, or making my wife extravagant weekend breakfasts that hold us over 'til dinner.
One book/show/podcast/community event etc I would recommend is... I didn't know I loved sci-fi until I read the Children of Time series by Adrian Tchaikovsky.
One topic I bring up often at On Purpose Oregon l happy hours is... We live in the best place in the world to work for a B Corp!
The best/my favorite thing about our On Purpose Oregon community is... We aren't just studying for the test. Our community goes "beyond the B" to operationalize their values and turn them into huge social impact.
I am a massive fan/kind of obsessed with the B Corp... I'll cheat and pick 2... Looptworks and City of Roses Disposal & Recycling. They are creating the future of material circularity!

About: Alysha has been working in the marketing field for over twelve years. With experience both in-house, and agency side; fueled by a deeply held belief that marketing can actually be a a part of the solution to our problems, rather than a contributor. She loves working with orgs of all sizes who want to change their community or industry for the better. A mother of two humans, and two dogs, she can often be found outside enjoying the natural bounty of Oregon with her family.

About: Nicole Stein is the Director of Social Impact and Sustainability at Killian Pacific, where she works to integrate business success with social impact, advancing the company’s commitment to balancing purpose and profitability. With a background spanning the public, nonprofit, and private sectors, Nicole is dedicated to addressing social and environmental challenges through collaboration, transparency, and solutions that are both pragmatic and creative. Prior to joining Killian Pacific, Nicole spent nearly 20 years at Umpqua Bank, where she led initiatives in ESG and impact programming, including the launch of its charitable foundation and stakeholder reporting. Nicole serves on the Oregon Community Foundation Metro Council and joined the On Purpose Oregon board in 2025. An outdoor enthusiast and lifelong learner, she enjoys traveling, exploring Oregon’s vibrant food scene, and soaking in new ideas through podcasts and books.
Outside of work, you're likely to find me... Mt. Hood is where you'll find me...skiing, hiking, or sitting by a river amidst the giant trees and ferns.

About: Corrie is the co-founder and CFO of Mad Fish Digital, an integrated marketing agency started in Portland. We have been a B Corp since 2018. I've spent the last 18 years building our agency alongside a world-class group of team members and clients. I am an Oregon native, and while I have had the good fortune of traveling the world to many wonderful places, I still love calling the PNW home.
My nominee for most (peaceful/beautiful/stunning/etc) place in Oregon is... I spent my childhood in southern Oregon so I still find the woods in the Umpqua National Forest to be some of the most beautiful and stoically zen places to visit.
Outside of work, you're likely to find me... Happily typing nonsense at a local coffee shop, reading the growing line of books that decorate my windowsills, zoning out while puzzling, or playing Stardew Valley with my son.
One book/show/podcast/community event etc I would recommend is... Books are so personal, I rarely recommend them unless I really feel that I know the person. I'm currently loving the Wiser than Me podcast.
One topic I bring up often at On Purpose happy hours is... The power and benefits of offering a strong volunteerism program to employees.
The best/my favorite thing about our community is... My favorite thing about the On Purpose Oregon community is the network of values-aligned individuals I get to meet and ask questions of as we endeavor to improve and evolve ourselves. Everyone is so willing to learn and share to make the entire movement better.

About: Ivanna has worked in various marketing roles in nonprofit, retail, and media. She earned degrees in Mass Communication and Communication Arts from Linfield University and an MBA from Willamette University. As the Digital Marketing Manager at A to Z, she oversees all things digital, developing compelling channel strategies and digital activations to help people fall in love with Oregon wine. In her free time, you can catch her reading, judging dance competitions, at concerts, or traveling.

About: Eleazar Ruiz is an award-winning Dominican graphic designer. He is the founder and creative director at Odd Notion, a B Corp and branding studio. With over 15 years of experience in brand strategy, Eleazar’s worked simultaneously in the worlds of in-house design teams, design agencies, and start-ups creating immersive brand identities and website experiences. Some of the brands on his roster include Nike, The Oregonian, Lyft, Microsoft, and Xbox.
